Everyone talks about "budget hauls" but nobody defines what "budget" actually means. So I set myself a hard limit: 500 yuan total for items. Domestic shipping to warehouse included. International shipping separate (because that varies too much by country to be comparable).

I went with M batch Dunks because they're the sweet spot: 0.9:1 accuracy, consistent quality control, and about 100 yuan cheaper than LJR Jordans. The Grey Fog colorway is understated and goes with everything. Weight: about 950g with box (I'll drop the box to save shipping). From seller "Shoe King" on Weidian - 32% return rate, 8,000+ sales.
Essentials Fear of God Hoodie - 158 Yuan
Not the 88 yuan budget version that arrives feeling like sandpaper. This is the 158 yuan batch that uses a 420gsm French terry blank - heavy, structured, actually warm. The "Essentials" logo is 3M reflective and properly placed on the chest (chest, not stomach - a common flaw on cheaper batches). Seller "FOG Archive" has consistent QC history going back to January 2026. Weight: about 780g.
Carhartt Beanie (Unbranded) - 25 Yuan
Winter accessory that costs basically nothing. Thick acrylic knit, fits well, no branding issues to worry about. From a 1688 basics store with 50,000+ sales. Weight: about 80g.
Casio Vintage Watch (Rep) - 89 Yuan
The classic digital Casio look at a fraction of retail. These have been QC'd to death and the consensus is: for 89 yuan, they're shockingly good. The band feels slightly cheaper than retail, but the watch face is near-identical. Battery life is a coin flip - some last 6 months, some last 2. At this price, just replace the battery. Weight: about 120g.
3-Pack Crew Socks - 35 Yuan
Unbranded thick cotton crew socks from a 1688 factory store. These are the same blanks that branded sellers slap a logo on and charge 35 yuan per pair for. Weight: about 180g total.
Domestic shipping total: roughly 35 yuan across all items. Grand total: 497 yuan.
Shipping Cost Breakdown
Total estimated weight (without shoe box): about 2,110g. With packaging: roughly 2,500g. Using EMS to US East Coast at about 85 yuan/kg: approximately 213 yuan ($30) for shipping. With shoe box: about 3,000g / 255 yuan ($36).
Total landed cost: 497 + 213 = 710 yuan (about $99). For a pair of Dunks, an Essentials hoodie, a beanie, a watch, and socks. Retail equivalent: roughly $350-400.
What I'd Do Differently
Drop the watch and socks, upgrade the hoodie to a 220 yuan batch from a different seller with even better QC history. That puts you at 487 yuan with a slightly better haul. But for a first-timer trying to maximize variety while staying under 500 yuan, this mix is hard to beat.
The real lesson: 500 yuan goes further than you think, if you prioritize items with high QC consistency over items with flashy branding. The Dunks and Essentials hoodie will get 90% of the wear. The accessories are just rounding out the weight threshold.
